Chivalry is Dead – Orcs

Published by naughtyjester on

In this series of blog posts, we’re going to focus on each race one by one. Their strengths, their weaknesses, and what makes them play differently from the others. The first stop is Humans.

Orcs

Ok, so the orcs get into some interesting mechanics. They are the first race to have the ability to attack with their mounts (ignoring the Ram ability). Their wolves are limited on the number of attacks they can do but in effect, it gives an extra attack a few times a game. It also allows more focused attacks in a single round by having the wolves attack, moving forward one space, and attacking the same target with the chariot or driver.

Team Ability

Out for Blood

Orcs can attack with their wolves. 3 Uses Per game.

This attack acts as a bonus attack on top of any others the Orc can perform that round. So you can technically attack twice (once on a chariot, once on the animals with your wolves), move forward one space, and attack again, all on the same chariot.

Team Perks

Wallup

This causes a slam action on a 7 or 8

Effectively, easier to bash the opposing chariot over a space

Frenzy

When you cause damage to an opposing chariot, get 1 free movement

Imagine a few of them.

Hunt

Pick a target, during your movement phase you get a free movement towards that target

Want to catch up with someone? This is the way.

Strategy

Orcs are all about hitting one target hard. The extra attacks allow you to hit a single chariot more often in those first few rounds or when an opponent is weak. We’re not entirely sure how the wolves are pulling the chariot while they attack, but last time someone tried to ask they didn’t return with all their fingers.
